Hello World!
I imagined these words would be an equivalent to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for this website as I released it into the world. Additionally, I wanted to include a lot of content right out of the gate, perfectly formatted in stellar design. The fact that I also wanted to do EVERYTHING by myself only pushed the date farther into the unforeseeable future.
Instead of waiting for every piece to be figured out, I persuaded myself to just go for it. Start where I am and grow from there. I decided to use this platform as a playground. So I’d be displaying projects I am working on, while learning web design. Two birds, one website, or something like that.
Truth be told, I’ve had the idea of this website living in my head for a while now. However, I absolutely have no defined road map of what I’d like its final look to be. I will develop SeldomRandom’s pages over time, so don’t be surprised if you see frequent edits.
My original idea for the site was (and still is) to take you into my world and document projects I work on. Whether it is for myself or clients, upholstery related or an adventure in design of some kind is not important. The only requirement is that in some way it’s an exercise in artistic expression.
I knew I wanted to create an outlet where I could share my thought process, projects and failures. All this as I practice upholstery, work on furnishing and designing my own home on a budget or just exploring a new artistic direction.
I will let my creative journey evolve organically in any direction it wants to take me. This very process is what inspired the name of the website. What I mean by this is that as random as some of my projects may seem, they seldom are. Instead, each inspires a new tangent in a fun (and at times challenging) artistic chain reaction – kind of like falling dominoes.
So, in the words of the great Amy Poehler:
